Alaafia Everyone - Here is the summary of the messages received for this Itadogun. For those that were not present, now that we are officially within the egbe with Irentegbe Temple, I will be casting our community divination on Isan (second Ose Ola/ Ose ifa after Itadogun).
Oluwo will be casting for Itadogun for both communities. Posts will still give you all the deets. Just wanted you all to be aware of the change.
So I will be casting on July 25th.
Aboru aboye abosise Irentegbe Temple and aborisha family. In today's Itadogun, Òkànràn Ogbè manifested for us. It brings the iré of longevity (Àìkú). We have been advised to be mindful of how we present ourselves to the world. Ifá has advised us to not take for granted that we have been guaranteed a blessing. As easily as those blessings may come, we can just as easily lose them if we are not careful.
Verse 1:
Òkànrànsodé, The priest of the House of Ifá, divined for Orunmila when the goat kept stealing his things.
At this time, the goat was human and lived in the house of Orunmila. Orunmila started to notice that his things were being stolen and because of the power given to him by Olodumaré, Orunmila knew that it was the goat who had been stealing from him. He wanted to catch the thief but he wanted to do so in a way that would not give the impression that someone had informed him. Orunmila consulted Ifá and was advised to offer ẹbo. He was further told that when the culprit's secret was leaked, they would be transformed into food for humans because he was a traitor who was very close to Orunmila.
The priest called all the inhabitants of Orunmila's home and commanded that they swear their innocence. They all swore that if they ever stole Orunmila's things, they should die. The goat did the same and as soon as he spoke the words, he became an animal and walked on all fours. Orunmila thus commanded that goats should be used as offering propitiations to Ifá.
Verse 2:
Cast Ifa for 200 irunmole
When they were going to Olodumare
To collect the instruments of prosperity on Earth.
The 200 divinities went to the throne of Olodumare in order to discover how to accomplish everything they aspired to upon arrival in the world. In response to their request, Olodumare agreed to open the treasure house of heaven and allow them to collect whatever power they wanted. Before going to the treasury however, all 200 divinities were advised to go and consult Ifá. There, they were advised to make sacrifice with elekute (corn cake), ireke (sugar cane), and moinmoin (bean pudding). They were told to add irukere (fly whisk) as well.
When they left the diviner's shrine, the 200 irunmole had a conference among themselves. They wondered what is the purpose of a sacrifice when Olodumare had already agreed to give them the instrument of authority. After some discussion, they proclaimed that they did not need a sacrifice, especially given the fact that the materials were so very common and ordinary.
Orunmila told the divinities that he was committed to making the sacrifice because Olodumare had advised them to do so. The other deities laughed at Orunmila. They insisted that they would not make any sacrifice. And so, Orunmila collected the materials and went to perform the sacrifice, as it was prescribed. He added a he goat for Èṣù, knowing intuitively that his support would be indispensable.
The Awos performed the sacrifice, after which they gave Orunmila the Offerings. They informed him that he should keep them in his bag during the journey. Orunmila was advised to give the offerings to Elenini, the detractor, who was bound to confront him on the way from the treasury to the earth. After slaughtering the he goat for Èṣù, the priests used the skin to make a small drum. They gave that drum to Orunmila and told him to carry it along with him as well.
And so all of the divinities went to Olodumare and asked for the powers that they desired. Some requested power over the elements. Others requested great speed. Others requested irresistible influence, and so on. One by one they accumulated all of the powers of the world. Orunmila however, was last to arrive at the heavenly treasury.
The detractor was the gatekeeper of the treasury. He transformed himself into a ferocious cripple who confronted each of the divinities on their return journey. One after another Elenini seized the materials they collected and returned them to the treasury. When Orunmila reached Elenini, he stopped and told the creature that he had some gifts for him. First, Orunmila gave Elenini ireke, then elekute and finally the moinmoin.
As the detractor was eating, Èṣù advised Orunmila to start beating his drum and singing a song. As Orunmila sang and played the drum, Elenini took the fly whisk from Orunmila and started to dance. It was then that Èṣù took the drum from Orunmila and began to play the drum in his place. This allowed Orunmila to continue his journey to the earth unobstructed. Ultimately, this is how Orunmila arrived on earth with all of the instruments of prosperity that he selected in heaven.
