Itadogun February 7, 2025| Okanran Meji

Ifa revealed for us the Holy Odu - Okanran Meji. Ire coming to us through Oyeku Meji.

I'm only just realizing that last Itadogun we received wisdom from Okanran Oyeku, then this cycle we received Okanran Meji with Ire through Oyeku Meji.

There is a community ebo that will be given and then there is ebo to be given by your hands for the Elders.

Sister Temple Odu Ogbe Ogunda - Ogbe Yonu or Ogbe Suuru

Oluwo Baba Suruu Ifaneye (Formerly Baba Teju) cast the Itadogun for the Egbe (Community) for which we are a part of. The Odu I cast will be the more prevalent energy, however this one will also be present for us as well. There is significant overlap in the messages.

Quote -"The elder who has patience has all good things."

This current cycle came up in ire with Owonrin Okanran.

  • May be working hard without any recognition - Patience. Recognition is coming

  • May need to accept "abuse" for a time to get noticed

  • Do not assume that someone being passive is being cowardly

  • Patience is being highlighted at this time

  • There is an order to things even if you can't see it

  • A time to make sure you are clear on things

  • Things under the surface or behind the scenes you can't see

  • A "death" bringing in new life

  • Life emerging from darkness and being nurtured by the light

  • Don't put all your egg in one basket

  • Continue on your path even during difficult times

  • Appeasement to the Iyaami being called for

Itans

Verse 1:

Olodumare gave Iku ( Death) and Obatala four eggs each to bring to the earth during one of their many visits to earth. Upon their arrival on the earth, Iku gave his eggs to Obatala for safekeeping because he was about to embark on a journey which would take 16 years. When Iku left for the journey, Obatala asked Olodumare what he should do with his own share of the eggs. Olodumare advised Obatala to boil the eggs, peel off the shells, and sprinkle them on the surface of the earth. Obatala complied. Thereafter, plants and various crops began to spring up from the ground.

After sometime, the eggs that Iku had given to Obatala for safe keeping exploded and from the explosion emerged several human beings. These human beings could not help but to feed on the plants and crops that emerged from Obatala's eggs.

Several years later, Iku returned from his journey. As soon as he settled down, he demanded his eggs from Obatala, who then explained what happened. Iku then determined that he would kill all these human beings because they emerged from his eggs. Obatala totally disagreed with Iku, pointing out that these human beings had been feeding on the crops, plants, seeds and fruits that came out of his portion of the eggs. It became a heated argument between them. In the end, they reported the matter to Olodumare.

Olodumare appealed to both parties and said that it was true that those human beings were the products of the eggs given to Iku. Olodumare however also said that the human beings also belonged to Obatala because he used his eggs to sustain them. Therefore, it was not possible for Iku to take all of them away at the same time. Olodumare told Iku that he could only go to the earth from time to time to take the lives of those whose time had come to leave the planet.

Verse 2:

Orunmila was in need of money. His material wealth was very low at the time. His Odunfa was fast approaching and Orunmila did not even have enough to make an offering to Ifa. This is what prompted him to consult Ifa. The awos advised Orunmila to sacrifice with 5 chickens in order to attain the kinds of resources he needed to fulfill his obligations and to realize his vision as well. Orunmila managed to get the money together to complete the sacrifice. On the day he completed the sacrifice, the awos explained that Orunmila must take the intestines of the chickens to the riverbank and to pray.

As fate would have it, this was the same time that Igun, the vulture, had been very sick in heaven. Despite all of his efforts to find a remedy, Igun got no relief. So, he went to Olodumare to seek permission to descend from heaven and visit the earth in search of his blessings. Olodumare agreed and Igun departed for the world. He arrived at the riverbank,

where he saw Orunmila placing the intestines and internal organs of the chickens. As he did so, Orunmila prayed for wealth, spouse, children and all good things. It is known that sacrifice is not accepted until the flies and maggots come to consume it. But when Orunmila finished placing the ebo, Igun did not waste a moment.

Igun practically inhaled the sacrificial offerings. As soon as he finished, Igun started to feel strong again. His vision cleared up. His vitality returned more and more by the minute. Within in no time. Igun was fully restored. Immediately, he went to the palace of Olodumare, who was astonished at how hearty Igun was looking. "What did you find on earth that healed you so completely?" Igun explained how it was Orunmila's offering that had healed him. He went on to confess his transgression of eating the sacrifice before any flies or maggots had partaken of it.

Igun felt guilty because it was Orunmila's sacrifice that healed him but Igunugun had prevented the prayers from manifesting. He begged Olodumare to help him right the situation for Orunmila.

Olodumare said, don't worry. He gave Igun five magic gourds; one contained great wealth. The second contained a wife. The third contained patience. The fourth contained Children. The fifth contained longevity. He explained to Igun that he should return to Orunmila and offer him just one gourd. It could be any one of Orunmila's choosing. And so, Igun returned to Orunmila and explained what had happened with his offering. When Orunmila heard about this, he was very concerned. He had exhausted the last of his money to complete the sacrifice and now it was surely not going to manifest. But he also acknowledged the fact that he would be compensated with a single magic gourd from Olodumare.

He didn't know which gourd to choose so Orunmila went to seek advice from Ifá.

Orunmila decided to go back to the house of his babalawo and ask Ifa. Ifa advised Orunmila to choose patience. "Patience is the father of character. The elder who has patience has all good things." And so, Orunmila chose patience.

Igun asked Orunmila if he was certain that it was patience he wanted. Orunmila confirmed and Igun gave Orunmila the gourd of patience. And then Igun started back to heaven with wealth, wife, children and longevity. Along the way, wealth said, "There were five of us originally. Where is the other one?" Igun replied, "Patience has remained with Orunmila." Immediately, wealth said, "Where there is patience is where I prefer to be. It is the patient who know how to use me best. I am going back to be with patience." After a little while, wife looked around and said, "Hold on! somebody is missing! Where is money???" Igun explained, "Money went with patience to stay in the house of Orunmila." Wife said, "Where am I going without money?

No, no no! I am going back to the house of Orunmila to stay with money." It didn't take long for children to start calling for their mother. "Where is our mother?" Igun told the children that she had gone to be Orunmila's wife. The children instantly turned around and started back toward the house of Orunmila. Finally, longevity looked around and saw that all the travelers had disappeared. "Where did everybody go?!?!" Igun explained how everybody had returned to the house of Orunmila. "Even the children?" Igun confirmed that even the children had gone there. Longevity then reasoned, "Children should be blessed with longevity. i will return to bless Orunmila's house with long life so that they enjoy their blessings for decades to come."

And so it was, Orunmila selected patience and received all blessings.
