Otura Iwori -Ire Odu
Big Sango and Ori energy happening this week, not just with us
Ifa indicate achievement of a deeper connection to Source leading to transformation of Self and Surroundings
Speaks of Suruu - inner peace, patience, etc. being the Father of Iwa (character)
Reminders that we cannot run faster than our destiny
Giving in order to receive - the most valuable gift being time. What are you giving your time to? Who and what is giving their time to you?
Courage required to go through transformation when it is instigated by Spirit
“Fear had made on abandon weeding the surroundings of a palm tree”
Itan - Divination was done for Oruku Ona Eye (Sango) who humans referred to as a slave. He consulted Ifa and was asked to do ebo so that he would be recognized as a real child in his father’s house. Sango performs the ebo and then went away in search of power. He was not seen for a long time. When he returns he asks for his father’s house right away. With it a loud crack of thunder. Immediately they pointed out his father’s house and apologized for their ignorance. Vowing to never refer to him as slave again
What do you hear for yourself? What do you hear for the collective?
Sister Temple Odu Okanran Irete
I attend at least one other casting Itadogun and get the Wisdom of Ifa from other vantage points. I have noticed the Odu’s overlap or support each other.
One of the main advisories shared from Ifa from this Odu warns of having enemies, however should they try to wage war against us, they will regret it!
I’ll drop the Itan from this Odu in a separate post. Here are some of the other messages from this Odu.
This Odu calls for initiation into Ifa; Fun fact this is the very first Odu my Iyalode ever cast for me
If not initiation, speaks for the need for spiritual elevation and discipline
Sango is also very prominent in this Odu
Okanran comes after Obara, inner transformation, usually a trial by fire
Irete is Ire Te, Good fortune is found at the Mat. The mat is almost always a reference to Ifa initiation or ceremony of some kind
Being able to see things from a new perspective give us the ability to persevere
Taking new direction gives us renewed determination
Speaks of victory over enemies
Going through difficulties; ebo will usher in the good times
Humility is needed
What wisdom are you taking from this Odu? Drop it below in the comments. Let’s get some conversation going and inspire more learning.
Iwori Ogbe - Ire
Resolution of conflict leads to open road or conflict leads to instability
Need for honesty in resolution of problem or conflict
This actually manifested for me today
Failure to resolve problem might lead to illness
This was actually in the works for me personally
Wealth comes in trickles - need for ebo
A friend provides good advice or makes a good and trustworthy business partner
Spend more time with family, especially playing with children
For a sick child- might be a need to take care of their Egbe via a party
We received an Itan about Saniyan. According to Google the word Saniyan translates to Worry.
Speaks of being too serious and a need for “play”, childlike fun will restore balance
Itan - Saniyan is the slave of destiny in Orun. He was told to offer sacrifice. Everyone had chosen what they would become during their subliminal stage. Saniyan is told to go to Orunmila and make ebo to his Ori. He listened. Life pleased him. He retraced his steps to the right way.
Don’t blame anyone for shortcomings or bad luck, look to your Ori
Ori being against you can indicate some form of mental instability or illness
Masculine and feminine energy need to be in balance within Ori
When you consider that Saniyan means worry, how does this impact how you understand this Itan?
Itan - Pigeon and Dove are both looking for the blessing of children and consult Ifa. They are told to give an ebo that includes a seed, yams, a bundle of sticks and a pot. The pigeon gives the ebo and the dove does not. Shortly after, both the pigeon and the dove begin to have children. The dove remarks that though they did not give their ebo they still had children. Some time after they’ve both had children the dove moves into the Egungun tree. A storm comes through and the Egungun tree is uprooted. The dove’s children are killed. The pigeon’s children were protected exclaiming that, “I put my back against the pot and was not killed”.
What do you hear Ifa saying?
Things we discussed was that the divinities do not remove blessings from us. When we get divination both positive and negative manifestations are possible. We give ebo to either prevent or soften anything negative that is already in flow.
Without revealing too much, the ebo materials are similar to those for Egungun tools. Pots are what we call our shrines.
Itan - The beetle was advised to give an ebo so that new things would come to his father’s house. The Awo prescribed an ebo. However, the beetle gave an entirely different ebo to his Ifa. No changes occurred. He went back to the Awo to find out why the blessings had not come to him. The Awo advised that he had not made the ebo and nothing would happen until he did so. The beetle fulfilled the correct ebo. The next day, he met a lady and was able to arrange marrying her. She quickly became pregnant. Good things came into his house.
