December 7th We celebrate Şango

Alaafia Everyone!

In many Diaspora Orisha traditions December 3rd is Baba Sango's feast day. This year, Sango gave the green light for a feast day on the 7th for us. So that evening, we are going to celebrate the King himself, Kabeysi Sango.

Calendar invite is going to shared to everyone and it will have the Temple Zoom link in it.

How you can prepare for our celebration:

Come dressed in either white or red and white

Set up a temporary altar to Sango if you don't already have one:

Altar Cloth that has a balance of red & white

A red candle and white candle (or one that is actually a balance of the two colors)

Something that represents a leopard or large cats in general

Drums

Double Sided Axe

Something representing woodworking

Offerings common here in the Diaspora:

Red Apples (6) plain or covered in Red Palm Oil

Red beans & Rice

Plantains

Bananas

Red Wine

Can't go wrong with Bitter Kola and Gin

What to expect:

Oriki to Sango

Music

Stories

Conversation on how Sango shows up with Baba and I

How you see yourself connecting with Sango whether you are a child of Sango or not

Blessings

Possibly a message from Sango to us all

Gathering will commence at 7:30pm EST/6:30pm CST

I'll be doing my Ose with Sango and Oya live that morning for anyone that wants to sit in on that as well (barring anything unforeseen)

Looking forward to celebrating with you! Bring a friend! As long as they're bring good energy they are welcome to fellowship with us.

Feel free to drop me any questions you have.

Are there any alternative items that can be placed on the temporary alter for Shango when you’re on a very tight and strict budget? I don’t have a lot of those items. Is it ok to find something out in nature or at the dollar tree?
