Itadogun Summary - Bath Ritual Coming Soon

Itadogun 11/19/2024

Ifa revealed for us the Holy Odu - Ogbe Ogunda. Ofun Meji vs Osa Otura - Ofun Meji coming in bring us Ire.

Goal is to have ebo materials gathered by Tuesday so I can assist in blessing before the holiday. Looking at 6pm EST. Send me a chat with your email so you can be added on the invite if you are not one my godchildren

So Osa Otura stuck out to me as energy that some of us have been having to move through. Osa - The Tornado - Radical External Change -Tumoultous Energy; Otura - Mystic Vision - Spiritual Practice - Coolness - Connection to Spirit; Osa being death and Otura being birth

Ofun Meji -Ire Odu

  • Comes from the elision “O Ofun” - Spirit of whiteness - Whiteness being pure consciousness in primal form

  • Ofun 0 Ase of Immortals who guide Creation

  • Prayers made manifest with effective use of our words

  • Ofun is the source of manifestation

  • Ofun - things are flowing well

  • Patience, Compromise, and Reciprocity called for

  • Hard work and ebo brings in success

  • Having Isefa brings protection from enemies

  • Rich in wisdom

  • Blessings from Obatala

  • Be kind and generous to family

  • Hope after much failure

  • Ebo to Obatala for abundance

  • Ofo Ase for Ofun Meji “The Universe Makes Miracles manifest in my Life at Every Moment”

  • Ogbe funfun kenewen o; difa fun Orisanla won ni ko rubo; pe gbogbo nkan to n’to ko ; ni wo; o rubo ojo ti gbogbo; nkan to n’to ko wo mo niyen; Ase

  • Ogbe the stranger cast ifa for Orisanla who was told to make ebo so that all he was doing would be sanctioned. He made ebo, and that was the day he received all the blessings that he needed. Ase.

Sister Temple Odu Oyeku Ogbe

I attend at least one other casting Itadogun and get the Wisdom of Ifa from other vantage points. I have noticed the Odu’s overlap or support each other.

One of the main advisories shared from Ifa from this Odu is, “Get out of your own way.” That is putting it mildly. The Odu came in Ibi and thus this is really a warning against self hexing. I know this definitely applies to some of us.

I’ll drop the Itan from this Odu in a separate post. Here are some of the other messages from this Odu.

  • Completion of a cycle leads to an open road - When you stop getting in the way, when you stop self hexing - then you can actually progress forward with more ease

  • Warns of not moving smoothly into the next stage - “We can do this the easy way, or we can do it the hard way”

  • “Ise tiOri, ran mi ni monje. Ona ti eda; la sileni mo nto.” - “I am doing what I am destined todo I’m following my predestined path.” - Yoruba Adage

  • Good fortune is close - ebo locks it in

  • Blessing appears in the home

  • Mediate rather than jump into conflict

  • Be mindful of friends that may destroy household

  • Strangers that may bring conflict

  • Taboo against arrogance

  • Advisory to propitiate Mother Earth - Itan with part of the Creation story

  • Get advice from a close friend on major task that may be assigned to you

  • Don’t be authoritative

  • Pay attention to dreams - Ok so our next class may be the dream section

  • Seek friends not enemies

  • “Death does not eat one’s food and then kill one.” - Yoruba Adage about “feeding” your enemies. If the person still tries to harm us, our food will judge them.

What wisdom are you taking from this Odu? Drop it below in the comments. Let’s get some dialogue going and inspire more learning.

Ogbe Ogunda - Ire

  • Open Road requires the removal of obstacles or encounters conflict

  • Oyeku Ogbe - though we received Ogbe Ogunda in Ire as a community - there is still individual work that Oyeku Ogbe is calling out so that we can receive the Ire promised from Ogbe Ogunda and Ofun Meji

  • “Anger does us no good, patience is the Father of Good Character”

  • Comes with victory over enemies

  • Receiving wealth from prior efforts - Success is imminent

  • Warning of being generous with what we have

  • Comes with the story of how Orunmilla called down the anger of “The Mothers”

  • Avoid confrontation at this time, especially men (prison time)

  • Women should be very careful with credit - Credit is not always about your credit score, it’s about debts in general

Itan - Awurete does his job really well but quietly. He is overlooked and often ridiculed. In the end he receives his promotion and gets a pay raise.

  • Warns against disrespecting superiors

  • Do not forget our elders who taught us the ways of the religion

  • Ori tutu - Coolhead and Suruu - Patience and Compassion - Keys to victory in this Odu

  • Tough times ahead - Ifa says don’t give up - Overcoming with ebo and suruu

Itan - The Kingdom of the Snakes was flourishing under the current King. When he died the Kingmakers were going to need to choose a king from his four sons. They consulted Ifa and were told to give ebo and to be polite, take whatever abuse or bullying comes their way. The 3 older sons took it as an insult and a plot to have their subjects undermine them. So, they went about being mean and angry. The younger brother was kind and passive. No matter what anyone through at him, he remained peaceful. The villagers came and sang to the kingmakers of the younger brother and wanting him to be king. The Kingmakers consult Ifa and Ifa confirms the youngest brother as king.

  • A community that receives wealth with proper ebo

  • Business or other opportunity that you might want to dismiss- Consult Ifa or some other form of divination before writing it off

Itan - 3 Kings are sent a gift from their mother. The gift was wrapped in koko leaves. The first two sons were appalled by the wrapping and thus sent their gift to the youngest brother without ever opening it. The youngest brother opens the wrapping and funds beautiful beads inside. He takes a portion of the beads and strings up two necklaces. He sends them to his older brothers in beautiful wrapping. The brothers paid their younger brother for the necklaces. The younger was able to sell them because he wrapped them beautifully.

  • Giving ebo to be healed from ailments

  • Being honest about what you need and when you need it

  • Consulting Ifa when something is wrong

Itan - Man with a stomach ache had been sick for awhile. He’d been taking all manner of medicine to no avail. When he had success he decided to visit priests for support. He goes to the first priests and decides to tumble 3 times when walking in his door. The Priest looks at him and tells him he has come for money. The man gets upset, leaves. He repeats this for 2 more priests. Neither of them gets why he came. Finally he comes to the 4th priest who consults Ifa. First, the Priest calls him out for the act and says he came for a stomach ache. The man immediately tells the Priest what’s going on and the Priest is able to prescribe an ebo. The man becomes well and does not die.
